PRESS RELEASE :ASEPA COMMENDS JUSTICE ATUGUBA AND THE SUPREME COURT FOR LANDMARK RULING ON ACCESS TO PROSECUTION DOCUMENTS

ASEPA wishes to use this medium to commend the Supreme Court of Ghana especially the Justice William Atuguba panel that gave a landmark verdict on Thursday, June 6, 2018 asking the Attorney General to make available all prosecution documents in any criminal trial to the Accused Person or the Defense party. One of the things we have always been advocating for as a human rights group in the country is the Enforcement of the right of every Ghanaian citizen to a fair trial. Access to prosecution documents has always been a problem for defense parties, Not Just prosecution documents but also Prosecution witness statements and Prosecution exhibits which forms an integral part of any trial and goes a long to even have an impact on the judgment were all not available for defense parties to properly prepare their responses which naturally disadvantaged them. FIFA bans Kwesi Nyantakyi over Anas video

The chairperson of the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee has provisionally banned the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and FIFA Council member, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, for a duration of 90 days.  The independent Ethics Committee says the duration of the ban may be extended for an additional period not exceeding 45 days.  During this time, Mr Nyantakyi is banned from all football activities at both national and international level (administrative, sports or any other). The ban comes into force immediately.  The decision was taken upon the request of the chairperson of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee carrying out the formal investigation proceedings into Mr Nyantakyi, pursuant to article 83 paragraph 1 and article 84 paragraph 2 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.  Article 83 (1) states: "At the request of the chairman of the investigatory chamber or the chief of the investigation, the chairman of the adjudicatory chamber may take...

Anas sues Kennedy Agyapong for defamation

Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has sued the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong for defamation. He is demanding GH¢25m in damages from the vociferous Member of Parliament who recently launched a fierce campaign against Anas’ work and his person. Kennedy Agyapong in series of media interviews ahead of the premiering of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ exposé on corruption in local football dubbed “Number12” accused Anas of entrapping persons captured in the investigative film. He described Anas as very corrupt and alleged that he was fond of taking bribes to exempt some persons he captures in his investigative films. After releasing photos he purports to be Anas via Net 2 TV which he owns, and putting out a supposed leaked tape to back his claims that Anas is corrupt, Kennedy Agyapong called for the lynching of Anas for his nefarious acts. Controversial lawmaker for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong is indeed determined to go all lengths with investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. He is carrying through his promise of premiering what he calls “Who Watches the Watchman” to prove his claims that Anas and his Tiger PI crew are not credible as many Ghanaians think. Mr Kennedy Agyapong in the last couple of weeks has descended on the undercover journalist calling him names including a blackmailer, an extortionist and a criminal who needs to be hanged. The Ghana Football Association wishes to announce the resignation of Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi as president of Association.  Mr. Nyantakyi made this decision after a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Association on Friday afternoon.  “After a meeting of the Executive Committee this afternoon I decided to resign as President of the Ghana Football Association”.  “It stemmed out of the controversies generated by investigative report of Tiger Eye PI. The management and the staff of Dambai Based Oti Radio in the Krachi East district of the Volta region, has experienced shocks on their network as NPP communicator Abrahamani and NDC communicator Peter Nlepah staged Open Fight Over Anas number 12 expose right after a studio discussion. According to reports the management of the aforementioned Radio station tried their best to calm nerves down but failed to yield results as the '' RAMBO SHOW'' escalated the more . Local league on indefinite suspension as gov’t dissolves GFA The local league is on an indefinite suspension following the dissolution of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by President Akufo-Addo. According to the Sports Minister, Isaac Asiama, the dissolution of the league also means “all other activities related to the FA have been suspended until further notice.” “We are going to put in place structures to ensure that we get in touch with FIFA and CAF to have a dialogue to get normalcy in place,” he told Joy News’ Evans Mensah on Newsnight, Thursday. He said government has had to take this action because of the issues that have emerged from the Anas investigation. The bid to expose Anas Aremeyaw Anas by the controversial MP for Assin central, Kennedy Agyapong has taken a new twist. In today's episode of Anas vs Kennedy Agyapong, the popular politician has said Anas is responsible for the sudden demise of the MP for Abuakwa North constituency, Hon JB Danquah in 2016 at his residence in shiashi, Accra. Speaking on a kumasi base radio station, Agyapong said he will call for the arrest of Anas after he's done premiering the number 12 exposure.
