The former general secretary of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie reports that President Mahama had personally told him that he is tired of being president and that he needs to rest.
Sir John argues that Ghana needs fresh leadership ahead of the December 7 elections.
Sir John, as he is publicly known, revealed in an interview with Onua FM that the president is contesting the elections all because he fears being tagged a failure by party members.
It remains unsure if the claims of the NPP firebrand are true. Meanwhile, President Mahama is currently embarking on a campaign tour in the Greater Accra region ahead of the December 7 presidential election.

Government committed to making Ghana safe - Ambrose Dery

Minister of the Interior, Ambrose Dery, has assured Ghanaians that government is committed to making the country safe for the citizens. His declaration follows the current attacks on national security personnel by criminals with the recent one resulting in the killing of Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi who was shot at the Kwabenya Police Station when gunmen invaded the station to free seven suspects. The aggrieved unemployed nurses on Wednesday, April 27, embarked on another demonstration to register their misgivings over delays in their postings. The nurses and midwives at the Kwame Nkrumah circle in Accra The graduate nurses and midwives took to the street because the Health Ministry has failed to get them posted.
