Police may arrest those who fail to vote on December 7

Police in the Central Region have warned that people who refuse to vote on election day may be compelled to do so.
Superintendent Isaac Amekudzi of Agona Odobeng in the Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa District was quoted as saying by ultimatefmonline.com that persons who will refuse to vote in the forthcoming general elections may be arrested.
He said voting is a constitutional right and people who refuse to vote may be flouting the law.
“Voting is all about democracy and also one’s civic responsibility to vote during
election . So on the day of elections if you are seen loitering around and not voting as required, the police may be compelled to enforce the law by arresting you," he said.
Superintendent Amekudzi appealed to Ghanaians to get and vote on that day, adding that failure to do so would amount to wasting national resources.
