The visitors were lacking that link between defence and attack in that first half, but the Belgian has filled the void admirably thus far.

27'GREAT COVER! Atletico get men behind the ball so quickly, taking less to no time to recover their shape. A corner comes to nothing and Bayern look to break, but Gabi makes up so much ground to get over and intercept the Frenchman's pass, stopping what was shaping up to be a dangerous attack!

23'HOW HAS THAT STAYED OUT?! Ribery latches onto a pass and drives an effort at goal from distance. He gets great bend and power behind it, as Oblak fails to catch, spilling it into the path of Lewandowski who can't knock the rebound into the net under pressure from the keeper's recovery challenge!

Muller's movement in the area is so difficult for opposing defences, and he uses it to perfection here to get on the end of a ball over the top, before playing Lewandowski through with a brilliant first-time ball. The striker has a clean look at the near post, but Oblak is off his line in a hurry and makes himself big to deny the striker with a kick save!
19'SMART SAVE AT THE OTHER END! Oblak made that one look easy too, didn't he? Vidal sure knows how to strike the ball and he makes excellent contact with an effort from atop the area, trying to pick out the far corner, but the keeper gets across to not only make the save but hold onto it as well!
17'Costa is swarmed by Atletico defenders on the flank but still manages to get a cross in. It takes a deflection into the path of Muller, whose shot winds up being a flick on for Lewandowski. The striker has a clean look at goal from in close, but can't adjust his body to make contact!
15'CRUCIAL SAVE! He just makes it look so easy! Atleico do counter down the flanks, finding space behind Lahm before a ball into the centre finds Gabi atop the area, but his first-time effort is denied by Neuer! That was a very difficult save for the keeper, and an important one at that. An away goal for Atletico would be detrimental to Bayern's hopes of advancing.
13'Juanfran does very well to come across and provide cover on Lewandowksi, forcing the striker to send a shot wide from in close. Bayern keep the pressure on, however, as they press high up the pitch and Luis has a bit of a nervy moment as he nearly gives the ball away in the area - but Oblak is quick to rescue his full-back.
11'With Bayern so keen to bomb their full-backs forward, Atletico would be wise to spray the ball out wide when they do win back possession and get on the counter, in order to exploit the space behind Alaba and Lahm. That being said, their wide men are having to do a lot of tracking back to compensate, so the options aren't always there on the break.

Pep Guardiola's side are boosted by Jerome Boateng's inclusion in the XI tonight. The centre-half returned on the weekend for just over an hour for first time since injuring himself on January 22, and partners Javi Martinez tonight, pushing David Alaba to his natural position at left-back and Juan Bernat to the bench.
