Mobile money customers to be paid interests by Wednesday

There  have been concerns over  the delay of the payments, as many had not received their interests three days after the commencement of the exercise.
After the Bank of Ghana’s directive for mobile telecoms operators to pay interests on mobile money accounts, the providers have assured customers that final payments will be made between Tuesday and Friday.

However figures from the four telecommunication companies operating mobile money services suggest that about 12 million Ghana Cedis worth of interests have been disbursed already.
All customers who have still not received their interest payments are being told to expect payment between Tuesday, September 13 to Friday September 16.
Director of Vodafone Cash, Matinson Obeng- Adjei his outfit will meet the requirements by the end of Tuesday. “For Vodafone, we have paid a little over 237,000 customers which is for the period between January and March and we are sure by close of day on Tuesday, we would have mopped up everything,”.
He put the delays down to technical hitches and not the timeline as many have suggested.
“The time period for the payment is fair if you ask me but because we are working with systems, you cannot guarantee a hundred percent that your schedules will go as planned. There may be little hitches here and there but at least we were asked to pay on the 11th so we will start paying on the quoted date,” he added in an interview with Citi Business.
The first two tranches of interest payments (first and second quarters), constitute about 80 percent of the total interests accumulated for the period. Payments for the second quarter are expected to be paid on September 18, 2016.

The aggrieved unemployed nurses on Wednesday, April 27, embarked on another demonstration to register their misgivings over delays in their postings. The nurses and midwives at the Kwame Nkrumah circle in Accra The graduate nurses and midwives took to the street because the Health Ministry has failed to get them posted.
