NDC apologizes to NPP over Nana Addo coffin

Madam Anita Desoso, the National vice chair of the National Democratic congress has apologised to the NPP and its flagbearer Nana Akuffo-Adoo on behalf of the NDC, over the coffin some youth of the NDC used to mock him.
Some youth of the NDC during the launch of their manifesto in Sunyani, paraded a wooden coffin with posters of Nana Adoo glued to it, as a symbol of his loss in the upcoming December elections. The act was widely criticised by religious bodies, some civil societies and the general public.
There have been many mixed reactions to this incident; the director of elections for the NPP Martin Adjei Mensah-Korsah, strongly criticised the NDC, and supposedly 'cursed' them stating that if it was a call for the death of the NPP flagbearer, then the family of the members of the NDC would be the ones to die in their numbers. The deputy general secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho on the other hand, described it as political amusement, and that it was no big matter as all political parties did the same.
However, speaking in an interview on Tuesday morning, Madam Anita Desoso debunked claims that the act was done to bury Nana Addo spiritually. She admitted that it was unfortunate and that it should not be encouraged again. She apologised for the act on behalf of the NDC. She asked that those responsible ask God for forgiveness and distance the party from the act.
"I don't know why they carried the coffin. But it was not an idea by the NDC. Maybe some NPP persons may have initiated the idea to paint us black. However, I wish to condemn the act. It was bad and unfortunate. I pray to God to forgive all of us. This should not happen again. I will also pray that God grants Nana Addo long life and prosperity and any death planned for him should be cancelled, '' she added.
